Crazy Kids

These two love playing in my tupperware drawer.  Drives me bonkers but Adelyn did it at this age too..  One of these days the drawer is going to fall off.

Daddy had man night so we had spaghetti!  These two loved feeding themselves..and made a royal mess.  Bath time was next ;)

I probably shouldn't have posted this picture since it means that I actually let things crust to the floor..but it's too funny to not post it.  Joelle was licking something that was stuck to the floor.  She didn't do it just once either.  She kept trying..and trying.  Ha!

Frederick Meijer Gardens

We had a play date planned for this morning but it was cancelled because they were sick.  I knew we had to do something because we had been housebound for a week so we packed up for the Children's Museum.  We got there, I unloaded my stuff and someone driving by informed me it was closed.  Awesome.  We headed to Frederick Meijer Gardens.  Luckily they were open ;)  There wasn't as much to do as the Children's Museum but they had added a new children's room that was pretty cool and the butterflies were just starting to come out.

The kids room.  They had some activity tables that the kids loved playing with and they also had a mock sculpture garden with child size sculptures that could be moved.

Notice the drool?!  He produces bucket fulls.

Butterflies!

All my babies in the garden :)

It definitely wasn't my preferred location but we all got out and everybody had fun!

Swimming Lessons

I've wanted to enroll Adelyn in a swimming class for a while but there isn't much for her age.  A friend of ours found one at MVP and I signed her up.  There are only 5 kids in the class so I felt like she would get a decent amount of attention.  She was really excited to be doing the class with Chloe and excited to go swimming.

Adelyn and Chloe

When the instructor strapped Adelyn's flotation device on she immediately walked off the steps into the pool.  Little did she realize it wasn't much of a flotation device.  She flapped around a little bit and the instructor fished her out but she was pretty upset.  Mean old momma just walked away.  A good dose of fear will do her good..she is way to fearLESS when it comes to the water.   Hence the not happy expressions on her face for the next pictures ;)

Poor baby..5 classes to go!

Happy Valentine's Day!!!

Adelyn and I made chocolate covered marshmallow hearts while Brecken and Joelle destroyed the house played.  She loved putting the sprinkles on and couldn't wait to try them.
You can't really tell they are hearts after Adelyn put 4 gallons of sprinkles on them but they are ;)

After lunch I wanted to get some Valentine's pictures.  Ha.  Go with the flow is totally our motto right now.  I got a good one of each of them.

The we tried for a group picture.  I got a super cute picture of the girls..and Brecken looks stoned..and the rest are sub-par.
The original..
 and the cropped..

aandd the rest look like this ;)

Adelyn and I made a chocolate ganache covered cookie for Eric and I this afternoon.  It was supposed to be cooked in a heart shaped pan but I don't have one and didn't want to buy one so she said you could also put it on any other pan.  I shaped it into a heart on a sheet pan and baked it.  It completely spread out and flattened.  Duh.  So I scooped it all up and squashed it into an 8x8 square pan.  OhyesIdid.  I thought about baking another one but didn't want to waste the time or ingredients.  And its covered in ganache so no one would know. ;)

The finished product.  I asked Adelyn to sort the M&M's by color and was thoroughly surprised when she did exactly as I asked.  If a wrong color slipped into the wrong bowl she had to quickly correct it.

Our Valentine's tradition is to get dinner and go to the beach and that is exactly what we did.  Eric surprised me with a card and a note inside to book a massage.  I accept.  He said he was going to do it for me but wasn't sure of my favorite place ;)

My Valentine and I.  Ready to devour the beautifully smashed cookie.

Funny/Random Pictures

I've come across quite a few random funny pictures that I wanted to throw together in one post.  A lot are pictures from my cell phone so pardon the quality.

For about 2 weeks now Brecken has been falling asleep during lunch.  Doesn't matter if I do it earlier or at the normal time.  He will fall asleep with food in his hand, in his mouth and or all over his tray.  I usually try and catch him before he's completely zonked but I was checking something on the computer and had forgotten all about him.  If he does fall asleep he'll sleep right through his diaper change too..so weird.

I was taking a shower and could hear Joelle crying-not a freak out cry but crying off and on.  She never came in the bathroom and did it the whole time I was in the shower.  I came out to find her standing on the Weeble house.  When this girl steps up on something she can not get down.  We have a stool in the bathroom that she climbs on all the time and she will just sit there and cry/whine until someone gets her down.  Poor girl.

I just had to have a picture of this boys bottom teeth.  They are ridiculous.  When the one on the right came through I thought it looked ridiculous.  Then the one on the left came through.  It's practically under his tongue.  He's going to need braces BEFORE he gets his permanent teeth.

Adelyn's first movie in the theater; Rio.  When her favorite part came on she got up and started dancing..so cute :)

Kota was sick of being trampled and retreated to underneath the slide..

What happens in our house when people have the barfs..we retreat to the kitchen and I drag the TV over so we can see.  I also haul the loveseat in there so we can sit on something comfy.  I refuse to scrub vomit out of the carpet.

Adelyn and I were watching a movie in the basement while Brecken and Joelle played..I turned around and caught them doing this.  Little monkeys..

Bahahahaha this picture is blackmail.  When B had his bloody buns I stuck him in a pair of leggings and a t-shirt.  His shirt said 18months but it fit more like a 2T and was rather large.  He had pulled his head out and was running around with it wrapped around his neck.

We had left the bottles, unattended, on the table and Joelle decided to help herself ;)

My sleepy babies and I.  When they are both super crabby and it's not nap-time I scoop them up, rock them and we watch cooking.  Sometimes they just zone out and other times they fall asleep.  I love holding onto a sleeping baby..or two ;)

Jojo's walking!

Eric and I took Adelyn out for her birthday while my parents watched Brecken and Joelle.  When we got back my dad enthusiastically informed me that I had missed it.  Missed what was my response.  Apparently Joelle started walking for him.  He said he noticed her taking a couple steps by herself and so he put her in the middle of the room and she walked across to him!  Sure enough.  She does not do things halfway.  I think she waits until she is completely confident in what she needs to do and then does it.  Who starts walking by walking across a room?!  She hasn't been going DOWN the stairs but will go up them.  The other day I left her at the top while I stood halfway waiting for B and she just started going down the stairs like it was no big deal..and went super fast.  Crazy girl.

She looks hil.ar.ious. when she walks.  She seriously looks like Frankenstein (not actually LOOKS like but looks like his walking, just to clarify).  She's very stiff legged and lurches everywhere.  It makes us laugh every time.

Adelyn's 3rd Party/Superbowl

We had all of our friends over for Superbowl and we had a little party for Adelyn at the same time.  She LOVES having her friends over and gets such a kick out of people singing Happy Birthday to her.

Love these cheesy little girls so much!  They were eating dinner and posing for some pictures :)
Everybody singing Happy Birthday to Adelyn

Blowing out the candles

DESSERT!  Everybody's  favorite part of the party ;)

Adelyn's Birthday Day

My mom and sister took us all out for lunch and then we had a nice walk downtown Holland.  Adelyn loved going out for lunch with Nana and Auntie Rach :)  My mom got her this little purse that she carries around everywhere and Auntie got her another Columbia coat, like the one she is wearing.  She seriously cries if I tell her she has to wear a warmer coat.

For Adelyn's birthday we wanted to go sledding.  It's kind of hard to go sledding without snow.  We decided to take her to a movie and out for dinner.  We went to see Alvin and the Chipmunks.  It was actually pretty good.  She didn't get antsy until there were about 15 minutes left.  All of a sudden she stood up and said "I's all done.  Let's go home."  Ha.  I convinced her to wait ;)  Right when we walked out of the theater she asked to ride the carousel.  We have never been on this one before and figured we had to for her birthday ;)

We went to Red Robin (and got a headache) for dinner.  None of us were really hungry because we had popcorn in the theater but we had them sing to Adelyn and they brought her some ice cream.  That probably made her day.

Feeding Daddy ice cream.

Silly cute birthday girl.

I have a 3 year old.

This is the post in which I admit I have a 3-year-old.  It's so crazy for me, I feel so old.

How does one go from this

to this in 3 short years?!?!

She is at such a fun age, though.  She talks sooo much.  I love the hilarious things that come out of her mouth.  Then the things that I say to her/Eric/Brecken and Joelle come out of her mouth and it makes me laugh/cringe.  Sometimes I will tell her she's a "one trick pony."  The other day I was helping her in the bathroom and she said to me "Momma, you a one tick pony."  I laughed out loud.  Now she says it just to get us to laugh :)
Other funny/cute sayings::
*She tooted at supper time and said "That was me.  Whoopsie daisies.  Did you hear that?!"
*Adelyn told me she had "to go poopies."  Eric was currently using the restroom and (without prompting from me) ran in there and said "Daddy!  Get off the can!  I have to go poopies!  Get off the can right now!"
*Adelyn loves the movie Madagascar and there is a old lady that beats up the lion and says "bad kitty" a lot.  Brecken and Joelle got into some paper plates she had been playing with and she starts yelling "No, no!  Bad kit-ty!"
*My mom took her to the bathroom at 8th St Grill and there was someone in the next stall tooting up a storm.  Adelyn says to my mom "Was that you?" My mom says "No." Adelyn bends over and looks through to the next stall and says "Oh. It was that man."  Ahhhh!  That poor person in the next stall..
*She randomly told me one day at lunch "Mommy you are my best friend."  She's been telling me multiple times daily now.  LOVE.
*She was running and fell yesterday.  She quickly got up and said "I broke my smolder!"  If you have seen Tangled you will understand :)
*It's never a good sign when she wakes up from her nap and says "Help!  There's poop on mine arm and mine leg!  Get my diaper off!  Get some paper!"
*"Quick Mommy!  My nose is running!  Get a blow-nex!
*I overheard her telling Brecken and Joelle "You guys gonna send me to the moo-mey (looney) bin."  Wonder where she got that one from...

1 years old

Other fun facts::
*she weighs 38lbs, 90th percentile
*she is 40.5inches tall, 97th percentile
*wears 4T/5 clothes
*size 8/9 shoe
*she is meeting or surpassing all of her milestones..except that she doesn't have her second set of molars.  Lucky me.
*the doctor said her speech is excellent.  She is very clear and uses lots of sentences.
*she still sleeps 12-13 hours straight
*usually takes an hour to an hour and a half nap
*we took her paci away the end of July and she has only woken up 2 nights since then
*she has been potty trained since August 4.  Hardest weekend of my life.  It's so nice though.
*knows her ABC's
*can count to 10
*knows most of her colors
*we are working on writing and recognizing letters
*loves to sing songs, dance and listen to music
*favorite cartoons are Word World and Super Why
*has lots of movies she likes. Her top requests now are Mr. Poppers Penguins (penguin movie), Charlotte's Web (pig movie), Madagascar and Tangled.
*has a mild case of OCD.  Everything (particularly in her bedroom) has to be in the exact.same.spot. Or else.
*has a serious sharing problem.  Some days I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.  Other days it is pitch black.  She thinks all of B and J's toys are her toys and will tell them that.
*I have her enrolled in a swimming class (no parents!) starting in a couple weeks, a dance class and a gymnastics class this summer.  We were originally going to do only one summer class, gymnastics, but she was super excited about the dance class.  They are only 2 weeks long so it should be fun.
*LOVES her friends.  She asks every morning if her friends are coming over/if we are going over there.
*She loves to hug and kiss Joelle and wrestle with Brecken.
*She LOVES to eat.  She is one of the least picky kids I know.  She prefers raw vegetables to cooked.  Weird, I know.  Always asks to try new things.  Eats beans like they are candy..which she also could eat an endless supply of.
*has become very interested in matching things/colors and if someone is a man/woman/boy/girl
*I still have her on Lactaid.  I tried last year, when she turned two, to take her off of it.  Bad news bears.  It makes me nervous to try again.
*Her favorite toys are her baby dolls, cars, play doh and coloring
*She excels at self-entertaining
