Adelyn'isms

UPDATED UPDATE::We went to our favorite place tonight, Costco.  While I was in line to get food Eric was sitting at the table with Adelyn, Brecken and Joelle.  He was asking Adelyn about her day, what did you do, who did you see, did you take a good nap etc.  She said "You talk to Brecken and Jojo, Daddy."

A couple minutes later he got up to go to the bathroom and started walking away.  Well, Adelyn and her love of public restrooms decided she had to go to.  Side note: Eric hates taking her in public because she holds onto the sides of the toilet..men's restrooms are pretty gross.  Eric says to me "Great. Now I don't get to go."  I said "Why?"  He said "Well, I'm not going to have her stand by me at the urinal."  I said "Use a stall."  He said "Thanks."  While in there Eric went to the bathroom and Adelyn kept saying over and over "Look at you, big boy!!"  Bahahahaha.

UPDATE::Just now she was biting her fingernails (a horrible habit she can thank her father for..if habits can be inherited..or just picked up on from watching him do it).  I think it's disgusting.  I said to her "Stop it!  Why do you do that?"  I have asked her many times and she normally doesn't respond..today she responded with "There's a tail on mys finger!!"  Now, what am I supposed to say to that?!?!?!

Sometimes Lakota will growl at people when they are stepping on her/smooshing her/etc.  Can't say I blame her..she never does anything more than growl, FYI.  One day I heard Adelyn say "No, Koya!! You no like it, you move!!"  when Lakota growled at Joelle.

Adelyn went downstairs to get her "baby bears," a bear set my great Uncle and Aunt got her and I hear her come (almost) crying up the stairs, "Momma! Mys baby bears all gone! Momma bear, daddy bear, babies bears all gone!  Cookie monster got em!"  The cookie monster gets everything lately..

I had cut up some turkey bacon for beans I had simmering on the stove, washed my hands and then put Adelyn down for a nap.  While Adelyn was reading to me, a part of the book says to kiss the baby's hands, so she kissed my hands, let go and said "Is that turkey?"

I was holding Brecken and he dropped his paci, I was also talking to my sister at the same time, Adelyn picked up the paci and said "here ya go, momma."  I didn't respond or take it right away and she said "HELLO?!?!!?"

The other day we were driving down the road right after naps and I hear her start cackling (yes, sometimes she cackles).  She said "Your welcome for staying in mys big girl bed"  I said "Yes! Thank you!"  She said "I had too."

On the way home from picking up some shoes for Brecken she says to me "Did you get shoes for Mister B?"  Ha!

One day I bribed her with some McDonalds french fries to get her moving and after we picked them up from the drive-thru I hear her sniffing in her car seat.  She said "I smell somepin! I smell fries!"  Then she keeps sniffing.

One morning at the breakfast table she said "Mommy have to take a shower?"  I said "yep"  She said "Mommy smells."  Thanks.  Thanks a lot.

Christmas Parades

We went to the Christmas parade in Zeeland last night and Adelyn loved it.  The weather was perfect, cold but not windy, so we brought the wagon for Brecken and Joelle.  They loved watching the lights go by, the sounds and even got some candy..which got quickly confiscated.

A couple of our friends asked us to go the Holland parade tonight, I was a little hesitant because it was windy but we decided to brave it anyways since Adelyn had so much fun.

My little lady and I..matching coats are not on purpose.  I have had mine for 5 years and I just bought Adelyn's at a garage sale for $5 this spring, score!

Brecken and Jojo all bundled up.  We had the stroller so the wind was hitting the back of it so they weren't freezing cold.

Everybody had fun but Brecken.  He isn't such a fan of being confined without moving for long periods of time.  I ended up taking him out of the stroller and he stopped crying..and froze his butt off.

So excited for Christmas!

Happy Thanksgiving...

 The best one..which isn't saying much..

Despite what these pictures show, we had a great turkey day!  We only had one Thanksgiving to go to and it was at our house..added bonus :)  We stayed in our jammies until 4, I took a 15 minute nap and we didn't have to fly around all day..loved it!

B and J::11 months

My little babies turned 11 months.  In 1 month I am going to have to say year..eep.  I have sent the invites for their birthday party and I am excited for the big day!  It will be loads of fun :)  So, so much has changed in the past 11 months..I'll save all that for another post.

Brecken:

-you weigh 22 lbs

-you wear 12 month clothes and some 12-18 month clothes

-a size 3 diaper during the day and a 4 at night

-we are down to nursing twice a day..it was a rough couple days but you got over it

-you eat (A LOT) 3 times a day.

-you are our pickiest eater.  with that being said you aren't that picky..

-you wear a size 3 shoe

-you started walking a couple of days after you turned 10 months.  you now essentially walk everywhere.

-you clap and wave like a champ

-you are one brave daredevil of a boy.  not much will make you cry when you hurt yourself and when you do cry it's generally short lived.

-you where pretty crabby last week but you were getting your two top teeth.  one has poked through and the other is still working on it.

-every time I am in the kitchen you are generally whining at my legs.  I have decided it's because you think I am going to get you something to eat.

-you take 2 great naps a day and sleep 11-12 hours at night.

-you are still not a fan of your car seat but hopefully that will change when you are facing forwards..and sitting upright.

-you can drink out of a sippy cup but usually refuse to.  that's going to be fun..

-you are constantly getting into trouble.  so very different than the girls.  if there is something in a room you are not supposed to do or not supposed to get into you are there.  you love getting into the toilet paper.  it constantly looks like a mouse got into our tp.

-you can go upstairs but not down.

-love all boy stuff.  you are always playing with the ball, banging something on something and you have figured out how to put the cars down the track.

Adelyn at 11 months

Joelle:

-you weigh 21.8lbs

-you wear 12 month clothes and 12-18 month clothes

-a size 3 shoe

-size 3 diaper during the day and a 4 at night.

-nurse twice a day

-eat 3 meals a day

-believe it or not you eat the least of anybody

-you LOVE all kinds of food, just like your big sister :)

-you take 2 naps and sleep 11-12 hours at night

-you have a very VERY! strong personality.  I said to Daddy today that you are going to make us cry when you are 2..

-you are such a sweet girl.  you love to cuddle up and love to giggle.

-you love your sippy cup and love water.

-love your blankie
-you clap and wave like crazy

-you have, seriously, the funniest hair.  we call you Donald Trump sometimes.  it looks just like a toupe and, sometimes, when you are having a temper tantrum and flinging yourself around your hair flops and it just makes us laugh 

-you can make some serious monster noises.  you are full of different noises but monster ones are your latest.

-you have graduated to standing without holding onto something for a couple seconds and just today have started trying to take a step or two.  you get scared and immediately fall down but it's much farther than what you were!

-when Adelyn and Brecken are being crazy you like to sit it out on the sidelines..can't say I blame you.

-you can climb up the stairs but not down.

-love Adelyn's baby dolls..and cars.

-when Brecken gets into things he's not supposed to you come along and join him.  he's the instigator, you are the accomplice.

-have two teeth with now signs of more

Sophia came for a visit today so I had to get a couple of pics of her too!  Doesn't Joelle look thrilled?! ;)

Ha!

It was so nice having Sophia over!  I didn't feel like I was constantly neglecting Adelyn, she loved playing with her and they entertained each other.

New Car Seats!

Our car seats came a couple days ago and I hauled them out of the boxes to try them out!  So excited about these seats-they will be the seats B and J are in for the rest of their car seat careers.  They convert from a five point harness to using the seat belt AND the back comes off so it can be just a booster.  AWESOME.  They are forward facing only so I will probably switch them out in a couple weeks.  They both are starting to loathe the infant seat..can't say that I blame them since they are almost longer than it..

Ahh!!! My babies look so big!

 

Slightly minor inconvenience (which is turning into a major inconvenience)-Joelle's seat was manufactured in 2009 which means that it's going to expire before she turns 8 (Brecken's was manufactured 2 months ago).  I called Walmart up and demanded a new one sent to my home (site-store can take forever sometimes).  So we got the new one and it HAS THE SAME DATE ON IT.  ARGH!  I spent 15 minutes on the phone yesterday and almost had everything ironed out when the lady accidentally(?) hung up on me. So I spent 30 minutes (no joke-I looked when I hung up) on the phone today telling the lady everything and to please put in the order notes that I want one manufactured in 2011...so hopefully the next one isn't so old.  Here's to hoping the third time is the charm..because if it isn't I'm going to want my money back AND a new seat!

Big Boy Walking

He started taking steps a couple of days after he turned 10 months and now this little boy is essentially a walker.  He can walk across a room..as a matter of fact he can walk across the house without falling.  If he does fall sometimes he'll crawl, other times he'll stand back up and walk.  He's going to be running by the time he is one.

 

Crazy.

Pardon the open mouth in all the pictures but he's cutting his top two teeth right now and I think they bother him pretty badly..hence all the drool on his shirt as well.

What happens in our house..

when everybody takes 45 minute naps.  45 minutes naps are straight from the devil.

She looks crazy in this picture (and not wailing) but she stopped crying because I sat on the floor and dangled a fun contraption in front of her face.

 

Finally...

I have been trying for weeks to get these shots.  The first time I tried I didn't have the memory card in and when I realized it the flash had gone off so she woke up.  The second time she must not have been quite asleep and she lifted her head right when it took.

 

This time I got her!  After I took this shot I quick ran away because she woke up and cried for a brief second and when I went back..

she was sleeping like this :)

She didn't wake up the last time and I moved her to a more comfortable sleeping position.  Makes me laugh that I have gotten so many funny sleeping shots of B and J.  Adelyn NEVER slept like that.

And we wonder why our things break..
