Never A Dull Moment..

I told Adelyn that I was going to go to the bathroom and I would be right back and she asked to go to.  I, of course, obliged.  While I was in the bathroom (she didn't go) she took off without her clothes or diaper on.  I come into the living room and don't see her.  I was afraid she was going to squat in a corner so I'm calling for her and then I notice the screen door open to the deck..  I go out onto the deck saying "get back here crazy naked lady!" She was halfway across the back yard and I noticed our neighbor's son on the deck with a bunch of his friends.  Turns out they got more of a show than they bargained for.  I'm just lucky I didn't have my boobs out..

She was been telling me when she gets up from her nap or in the morning "Adelyn misses Mommy."  That girl melts my heart.  Most days..


She has recently been a lot ruder towards Brecken and Joelle. She knows if she gets in their faces they will cry and that if she's really loud it can startle them into crying.  So she does it on purpose.  It's never related to her not getting her way or anything else either..


Lately, she walks around buckling everything.  In a house with 3 kids that need to be buckled into things that adds up to a lot of buckles..and also makes it really frustrating when you are trying to put someone in something.


Her vocabulary is expanding by the day and she amazes me with what she picks up on and then says.  The other day she was getting out of her car seat and she stood up on her stool and says "Hi guys!!" to Brecken and Joelle.

Whoopsies.

I was doing my normal routine of eating breakfast and catching up on the internet when I looked down and noticed that Adelyn had put her paci's in Brecken and Joelle's mouth.  Apparently Adelyn felt I was neglecting my duties.. Whoopsies

I then noticed that Brecken had Adelyn's blanket as well.  And just for future record Joelle wears boy pajamas but Brecken is not allowed to wear girl pajamas.

Brecken and Joelle-5 months

I can't believe in 1 month my sweet babies will be 1/2 a year old.  I wish they stayed little for longer.  The first year they grow way to fast!!  They are changing and maturing so quickly.  We haven't started them on food yet.  Mostly because I'm not ready.  My initial decision on food had been that I would wait until 6 months or until they had been showing signs they were ready.  Well Brecken has been showing signs for a couple weeks now.  Last night he grabbed my bowl 3 different times and he watches like a hawk when you are going towards your mouth with a utensil.  Joelle has no interest..and she's the one that needs it.  I actually tried to give her some prune juice the other day, because she has constipation issues, and she wanted nothing to do with it.  Starting food could be interesting with her ;)  I'll probably try in a week or two.

Brecken:

-you weigh 15.6lbs on the home scale

-you nurse at 7:30, 11:30, 3:30 and 7:30.  you typically wake up between 5 and 6 in the middle of the night, sometimes sleeping until 7

-you take typically 3 naps a day.  you have done a couple days this week with only 2.

-you wear 3-6month and 6month clothes

-a size 1-2 diaper during the day and a 3 at night.  you should really be in 2's but i'm trying to use up the rest of the 1-2's

-you LOVE to smile

-you are so ready to eat real food but your momma isn't ready for that next step :(

-you roll over quite frequently from your belly to your back while you are in bed

-you have started laughing

-you love both of your sisters.

-i gave you your first bottle (from me) while on vacation.  you took it but i didn't let you look at me ;)

-you love swimming.

-you are such a happy little boy but you can get mad REAL quickly if nobody shows you attention when you are starting to get angry.

-you are finishing up your 4th cold/allergies since the beginning of april.  momma is starting to get real frustrated with the whole thing.

-you are getting so much hair but it is bleach white blonde so it doesn't look (in pictures and far away) like you have much hair

-you have started pulling your paci out and attempting to put it back in 

Adelyn at 5 months:

Joelle:

-you weigh 15.8lbs on the home scale

-you wear 3-6month and 6month clothes

-you wear a size 1-2 diaper during the day and a 3 at night.  you should really be in 2's but i'm trying to use up the rest of the 1-2's

-you have mastered rolling both ways this month but will mainly roll from your back to your belly.  you LOVE to be on your belly.

-you have the biggest gummy smile.  i love it.

-you have started laughing.

-you have the fuzziest darkest (of my babies) hair.  it's my favorite right after your bath, it practically sticks straight up and is adorable.

-you are such a chubby bunny but don't really weight that much more than your brother.

-you can be quite needy.

-you also can be quite the momma's girl.  sometimes you just scream and scream if it isn't me that is holding you.

-you love your big brother and your big sister.

-you are quite the talker

-your daddy tells me you are going to make your big sister look like an angel when you are 2..oh boy.

This is the best one of both of them.  They were both done smiling and the ones with Brecken looking straight on aren't very cute ;)

Knock, Knock

On the ferry ride, on our way home from Mackinac Island, Adelyn knocked Joelle on the head.  How, you ask, do I know she was knocking??  Well, she curls her adorably pudgy little fingers into a fist and says "knock" while she does it.  Where she got that from I honestly have no clue.  I said "No, no Adelyn.  We don't knock on people's heads.  How would you like it if I knocked on your head?"  She said "Yeah, Mommy!"  I sighed.  {Insert long pause}  She leans her head towards me and says"ookk?"  Kind of like, I'm waiting!  I turned towards Eric and tried very hard to stifle my laughter.  Fortunately she never knocks hard.

Adelyn style..

I was coloring with Adelyn today and she was being super sweet.  She must have known I was having a really bad day.  No sleep+Sick kids=Bad day.  She was patting me on the back, rubbing my back and giving me random kisses.  She would say "Sorry, Mommy.  Sorry, Mommy"  give me kisses and shush me.  Most days that girl melts my heart.  We were talking about potty training and I asked her if she was ready.  She said "No, Mommy.  Happy Day."  I said "At your next Birthday?"  She said "yeah."  Lovely.  I think not!!

I was getting lunch ready and buckling Adelyn in her seat.  She said "Noggin hurt, Mommy."  I kissed it and laughed.  Noggin?!  Really?!

She's also been really into getting her "owies" kissed.  Any time she touches something wrong or actually gets hurt I have to kiss it.  What a character.

Tonight as I was directing everybody for bath time I was going to the bathroom.  Adelyn is standing next to me and while I'm talking she is grabbing the toilet paper.  I just thought she was going to hand it to me, which would have been par for the course, but the next thing I know I feel someone wiping my butt (the top side, mind you).  I didn't know if I should laugh or be thoroughly disgusted...
I laughed.  Eric laughed.  Ha.  Ha.  Ha.

Brecken:
-14lbs 11ozs: almost the 50th percentile
-24 1/2in: 25th percentile
-your head is in the 25th-50th percentile

Joelle:
-15lbs 1oz: 75th percentile
-24 3/4in: 50th-75th percentile
-head is in the 50th percentile

Apparently I make big girls :) Joelle is 1oz and 1/4in off what Adelyn was at her 4 months appointment.
